Nats beat writer apologizes for remarks, forgets to apologize for tie

Harlan0696We’re not sure what’s more confusing, the fact this beat writer’s name might really be Chico Harlan or that he chose that tie for this endearing publicity shot.

Either way, he’ll be known around these parts as Alec P. Beefing until we see official documentation indicating otherwise.

An Apology (WaPo)

Wow that was a major league mea culpa on that link.

“Chico Harlan” sounds like one of those incongruous names that people have nowadays that try to stradle two ethnicities. Like, “Geraldo McIntosh” or “Don Pablo Goldstein.”

The tie seems to represent a nod to a heritage in a Scottish clan that never actually existed.

I read his dumb apology, what an ass. He’s probably a Duke fan.

In his apology Mr. Beefing said he “loves, loves writing”. I assume this is in much the same way his high school classmates loved giving him swirlies in ninth grade, or the same way he “loves, loves” shopping for Dockers and White Zinfandel. Mr. Beefing is truly out of place at the Post- people with his sniveling, vapid nature belong in Hollywood or in the Massachusetts Senate.
