American League to Twins: Keep winning those MVP Awards

… and underachieving.

… and losing in the first round.

… and building a stadium with no roof for those beautiful April days in Minnesota.

… and using all that revenue sharing money to delicately groom Mauer’s sideburns.

Underachieving? Really? I’d say considering the market, the competitive division, and a billion other factors, I’d say the Twins are a model franchise in MLB for “doing it right.” Oh, and Minnesotans are ecstatic to dump the Dome – and if MN needs a dome, shouldn’t the Yanks, Mets, Rockies, Tigers, etc all have one? April’s just as full of horse shit for those teams as it is in MN.

In their last 19 playoff games they are 3-16. Small market or not, that is one massive bucket ‘o fail.

In all fairness to the Twins they could/should have been in that series with the Yanks this year. This despite Morneau being hurt, and the Yanks probably having triple the payroll. It doesn’t help that MLB has Instant Replay capabilities, but decide “nahh lets not use it” (See Mauer Double being called foul, in game 2-ish)I wouldn’t call that underachieving…you’re thinking Mets. Either Mauer has sweet sideburns…so this is all irrelevant.

Mauer’s sideburns blow. The Twins are going to sign Henry Blanco and his negburns just to even out those stupid WGN network actor grade chops.

I’m with Dezotell and Soy on this…Minnesota’s recent playoff record is unavoidably shitty and the first-round exits have gotten old fast, but underachievers? In this past season they didn’t even look like they had a chance at the playoffs and had to put on a 2007 Rockies-esque hot streak to get back in it in September, then won a tiebreaker that’s one of the most exciting games in recent memory. As for the playoffs, although said bad call was one factor and ripped them off, they made far too many mistakes and the Yankees were easily the better team. Still, they played ’em tough in any case even without Morneau and Crede. Inept in the playoffs, sure, but not underachievers. That one would definitely go to the Mets.
