They need to add a rule that if you get punched in the balls, you have total amnesty for any retaliation.

Kudos to Seton Hall for acting quickly on the Herb Pope shot. Pope has been suspended from school and head coach Bobby Gonzalez has been fired (and from what I’ve read, it was players actions like Pope’s more than the NIT loss that was the deciding factor).

Patrick Hobbs, Seton Hall Dean of the Law School, who has been overseeing the Athletics Department since July, announced today that Bobby Gonzalez will not return as head coach of the men’s basketball program. A national search for a replacement will begin immediately.

“Performance and success are not measured solely by wins and losses, but also in the conduct of those associated with the program,” Hobbs said. “We have expectations as to how our coaches and players will conduct themselves, and they are expected to treat everyone they interact with, whether officials, the press or our students, with the utmost respect, maturity and professionalism. Those core expectations must be met.”
