People expected to care about Marlins some time soon

The Marlins should play their games in Helms Deep
This picture was taken in the third inning of the Marlins-Brewers game this past Sunday afternoon.  We can’t say this for sure, but we’re guessing people in Florida don’t really give a shit about the Marlins.  On the plus side, they’re getting a new stadium, one with a retractable roof and quite possibly, retractable seats.*

The way this is written, I am not sure how aware you are that it’s fuckin’ hot down here in Florida during the entire baseball season.

Of course folks could give a crap about sitting out in that heat for hours for any sporting event let alone baseball. Most would not make it through the whole game without major sunburn and heat exhaustion for that matter. And hey in Miami they did not even sell out Game 1 of the NBA Finals, so what does that tell you about that dump?

Here in the Tampa Bay Area we have Tropicana Field, but they picked the wrong location for it relative to the high disposable income especially, so folks from even the same county don’t want to go there to watch games either.

The whole thing here in Tampa Bay was just another Steinbrenner and New Yorker sham and scam to attract the Yankee and Red Sox folks down here sometimes, but the problem is those fans don’t come in the hot summer like they do for spring training for the Yankees and also for the Phillies in the Grapefruit League.

It gets hot in a lot of other states too, with different results. Shitty sports town.

I think people in Florida are more interested in Basketball than Baseball.

Definitely not true — football is number 1 in Florida no doubt, but number two varies.

Here in Tampa Bay, baseball is number two except strangely for regular season attendance due to the location of the stadium as explained above. Believe it or not, hockey is number 2 for attendance and the Lightning are like the Stars and one of the few NHL expansion franchises that are succeeding consistently. This is I think because the hockey stadium is in a better location and attracts dominantly the snowbird and visiting fans from the Northeast and many Canadians around here.

No one gives a rip about basketball here though the lame-ass Magic try to market here, and in Miami basketball goes over baseball for attendance but still comes up short even for the NBA Finals of filling the stands.

Also Hernia when I say it’s hot, it’s not like in the Northeast where, except for perhaps parts of July and August, it cools down around 7PM or so when ball games are being played.

Here in Florida it stays uncomfortably hot outside well into the night starting in May and going through some of October. You just plain don’t stay outside including not even in your car hardly once you shut off the engine.
